Seven-year-old boy, Illinois

2016: A seven-year-old Illinois boy was kept locked in a closet, repeatedly physically abused, and fed sporadically for over span of two years. The boy was beaten numerous times with an extension cord, baseball bat and pole and and had marks and injuries of various stages of healing.

 

The child told police he was kept in a closet for prolonged periods of time and . In addition, the boy also reported being held down atop a burning stove and having his genitals burned with curling iron.  According to prosecutors, a doctor who examined the boy said the child had more physical injuries on his body than the doctor had ever seen on one person.

All charges against the boys mother, Caroline Woods, and her boyfriend were dismissed. [8]
